Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Alternative, M.Ed.


Admission Requirements:

In addition to graduate school requirements , Collaborative DHH education students must complete Core Academic Skills for Educators Test, the content Praxis II examination, and the admission interview. They must also have fingerprint background clearance from ALSDE and complete course prerequisites.

Course Prerequisites:

SPED 300 American Sign Language, SPED 307 Manually Coded English, SPED 398 Deaf Culture, CSD 411 Introduction to Audiology or SPED 320 Developing Auditory/Oral Communication with Students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Students demonstrating American Sign Language skills at the intermediate level or higher on the SCPI or other Sign Language Proficiency test may opt out of SPED 300 and or SPED 307.  Proof of sign language proficiency in the form of a letter from an employer or a copy of assessment results must be on file in the Teacher Education Services office.
