Sociology, Criminology, B.A. & B.S.


The criminology concentration will help prepare students for careers and graduate programs in sociology, criminal justice, law, public administration, and social services. Sociology majors who elect this concentration will complete 18 credits of core major requirements and fulfill the remaining 15 elective hours through sociology courses that are focused on topics of crime, deviance, and social control.  Sociology majors are not required to have a minor. 

In addition to the requirements listed below, students must meet all general graduation requirements as listed in the Academic Programs and Policies   section in this bulletin. A minimum of 120 semester hours is required for completion.

Major Requirements


General Education and General Electives


Students must also complete the General Education Core requirements to include any specific courses listed below. Students must also complete sufficient general electives to reach 120 or more total semester hours.

Bachelor of Art Requirements


Students pursuing the Bachelor of Art degree must successfully complete the second-year sequence of a foreign language.
