Family and Consumer Sciences Education, B.A. & B.S.


The Family and Consumer Sciences Secondary Education Concentration is designed for students who wish to teach Family and Consumer Sciences in the middle and high schools, and work in the Cooperative Extension Service or related positions.

In addition to the major requirements below, FCS majors with the Secondary Education concentration must complete the general education history sequence (HIST 102  and 102 ), earn a grade of ‘C’ or higher is all courses applied toward program requirements, and earn a 2.75 or higher graduation GPA. Students must meet all general graduation requirements as listed in the Undergraduate Academic Policies   section in this bulletin. A minimum of 120/125 semester hours is required for completion.

General Education and General Electives


Students must also complete the General Education Core requirements to include any specific courses listed below. Students must also complete sufficient general electives to reach 120 or more total semester hours.

Bachelor of Science Requirements


Student pursuing a Bachelor of Science must complete an additional seven semester hours of mathematics and/or science course work beyond the general education requirement.
