Family and Consumer Sciences, Human Development and Family Studies, B.A. & B.S.


The Human Development and Family Studies Concentration is designed for students who wish to pursue careers in human resources, child and family services, and preschool teaching and administration. The National Council on Family Relations has approved the program to award Family Life Educator certification (CFLE). Human Development and Family Studies majors are able to earn CFLE certification without having to pass the CFLE examination. Human Development and Family Life Studies majors are required to complete a professional internship.

Students enrolled in Family and Consumer Sciences concentrations may be required to participate in state and/or program-mandated background checks.

As a graduation requirement of the major, a student must earn a minimum grade of C on all work attempted in the FCS major course requirements and support courses.
