Teacher Leadership, Ed.S.
|

The Teacher Leadership AA/Ed.S. is a 30-semester-hour program designed to meet both degree and certification requirements. This program is available to teachers who hold a valid Class A Certificate from all subject areas and all grade levels. It has been approved by the State Board of Education for the Alabama Class AA certificate (levels P-12; all subject areas).
Program Admission Requirements:
- A completed application and application fee available at www.montevallo.edu/admissions-aid/applying/
- One official transcript from each institution of higher education attended
- 3.00 graduating GPA in a Master’s degree program from a regionally accredited college or university
- Valid Class A certification in any teaching field, grade level, or area of instructional support
- EXP form documenting at least three years teaching experience in a P-12 setting
- Three Letters of recommendation
- Professional portfolio demonstrating the ability to improve student achievement and leadership potential
Applications should be sent to the University by April 15 for summer admission, July 15 for fall admission, and November 15 for spring admission. Please note the following: These dates reflect priority deadlines. Applicants may submit materials after the deadline with the understanding that submitting materials after the priority deadline does not guarantee consideration for admission for the following term. UM undergraduates applying for these programs are not required to submit official transcripts.
No credit toward the AA/Ed.S. will be awarded to students who have not been admitted officially to the program(s).
Retention and Completion Requirements for AA/Ed.S
- Maintain a minimum 3.50 program GPA on all coursework
- A passing score on a comprehensive assessment, which includes action research documentation and formal presentation
- The Ed.S. degree and the AA certificate are earned simultaneously.

Students may select one 600-level advisor approved elective.
Note:
Students who have not completed the special-education requirements are required to take a general survey course SPED 507 , which will make the program 33 credit hours.
