Political Science, B.A. & B.S.

Political Science majors are not required to have a minor. It is recommended that students planning to continue into the Alternate Masters of Education in Secondary Education (6-12) with certification in Social Science Alt A program take GEOG 231 , SOC 101  (or 102 ), and EC 231 . In addition to the requirements listed below, students must meet all general graduation requirements as listed in the Undergraduate Academic Policies  section in this Bulletin. A minimum of 120 semester hours is required for completion.

• POS 300 - Introduction to Political Science
• POS 370 - Research Methods in Social Sciences
• POS 385 - Modern Political Thought
• POS 444 - Public Policy
• POS 455 - International Relations Writing Reinforcement -
• POS 475 - Constitutional Law Writing Reinforcement -
• POS 499 - The Science of Politics
• POS electives (12 credit hours)

Students must also complete the General Education Core requirements to include any specific courses listed below. Students must also complete sufficient general electives to reach 120 or more total semester hours.

• HIST 101 - History of World Civilizations I

• HIST 103 - History of World Civilizations for Honors Students (Prehistoric to 1500 A.D.)
• HIST 102 - History of World Civilizations II

• HIST 104 - History of World Civilizations for Honors Students II (1500 A.D. to present)

Bachelor of Science Requirements

Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science must complete an additional seven (7) semester hours of mathematics and/or natural science coursework beyond the general education requirement.
