Sociology, Criminology, B.A. & B.S.
The criminology concentration will help prepare students for careers and graduate programs in sociology, criminal justice, law, public administration, and social services. Sociology majors who elect this concentration will complete 24 credits of core major requirements and fulfill the remaining 9 elective hours through sociology courses that are focused on topics of crime, deviance, and social control. Sociology majors are not required to have a minor.
In addition to the requirements listed below, students must meet all general graduation requirements as listed in the Undergraduate Academic Policies section in this Bulletin. A minimum of 120 semester hours is required for completion.
Elective Hours
Choose 9 hours from the following courses:
General Education and General Electives
Students must also complete the General Education Core requirements to include any specific courses listed below. Students must also complete sufficient general electives to reach 120 or more total semester hours.
Bachelor of Science Requirements
Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science must complete an additional seven (7) semester hours of mathematics and/or natural science coursework beyond the general education requirement.
