Family & Consumer Sciences, Hospitality and Tourism BA/BS
Building on the foundation of liberal studies, the Family and Consumer Sciences program prepares students to engage family and consumer issues in pursuit of “meaningful employment.” Moreover, the FCS program core is predicated on personal growth in the context of family and community. Hospitality and tourism is truly complimentary as a multidisciplinary program, which promises to draw upon faculty and courses from several Departments and Colleges throughout the University of Montevallo.
Hospitality is the comfort and well being of guests at a variety of events and establishments. The Hospitality field covers all aspects of hospitality operations including hotels, restaurants, cruise ships, amusement parks, country clubs, and convention centers. Tourism is the movement of people to places outside their usual environment. The Tourism field covers tourism development, tourism services, travel industry management and tourism marketing.
