The Professional Educator Master’s is for those who have earned a Class B certification and desire advanced certification in Special Education (Collaborative Teaching). The Professional Educator Master’s program leads to a Class A professional educator certification. The Master of Education in Special Education provides professionals with the tools to fully understand the unique needs of learners with a wide range of disabilities. This program explores evidence-based practices, and the latest research delivered in an online format. With three options for certification, learners can personalize their education to align with their interests and career goals.
Admission
- One official transcript from each institution of higher education attended
- 2.75 undergraduate graduating GPA or 3.0 master’s degree graduating GPA from a regionally accredited college or university
- A valid Alabama Class B certificate in the same teaching field in which Class A certification is sought
- Two professional letters of recommendation
Retention/Completion
- Maintain a 3.25 program GPA
- Complete all required coursework with a grade of “C” or higher
- Complete SPED 407/507 or equivalent, if not previously complete
