SOC 330 - Research Methodology


3 credit hours
This course focuses on the role of research methods in the construction of sociological knowledge. Students will learn about the research process, the scientific method, the use of inductive and deductive logic, causality and spuriousness, survey design, sampling, experimental design, participant observation, research ethics, and the interpretation of statistics. Students should learn how to critically examine research by identifying strengths and weaknesses of particular research methods.   Sophomore standing or higher Prerequisite(s): SOC 101  or 102 .
