MATH 505 - The History and Philosophy of Mathematics 3 credit hours An introduction to the history of mathematics, along with the attending development of the philosophical aspects of mathematical inquiry. Emphasis is placed on historically important problems in arithmetic, geometry, trigonometry, algebra, and analysis. Mathematical abstraction and generalization will be examined in historical context, from early numeration systems through the modern era. Prerequisite(s): MATH 310.
