AAS 301 - Race, Class and Gender 3 credit hours - This course offers an interdisciplinary approach to the ways in which gender, race and class intersect in today’s society while exploring how the intersection of these social categories impact the daily lives of African Americans in the United States. In particular, this course will focus on how these markers of difference are historically and socially constructed and how they have changed throughout the years. In order to better understand the complex nature of how race, class and gender intersect, this course will also analyze the multiple axes of power and domination and their relationship to the creation of privileged and unprivileged categories which shape our personal lives and experiences on a daily basis.
