FI 421 - FinTech


3 credit hours - This course comprehensively explores critical financial information systems, equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the rapidly evolving fintech landscape. The course is structured around three core topics: 1) Internet transaction security, including cryptography and digital signatures; 2) Blockchain technology, cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, Ethereum smart contracts, and emerging decentralized finance models; and 3) Financial analysis and trading utilizing programming languages, particularly Python, alongside professional database systems. Students will gain a deep understanding of the technological foundations and industry practices driving these systems, preparing them to navigate and apply modern financial technologies effectively. This course is ideal for students aspiring to become consultants or financial analysts. Prerequisite(s): FI 372 , MIS 161 .
