DATA 348 - Database I 3 credit hours - The course is designed to develop skills in the design and implementation of databases using relational database management systems (RDBMS). Emphasis is on the practical aspects of database design and development. Topics include the conceptual design of database systems using the entity-relationship (ER) model, logical design and normalization, physical design, and the relational database model with SQL as a language for creating and manipulating database objects. XML technologies for metadata representations. Prerequisite(s): DATA 161 or DATA 171 , DATA 241 , and DATA 245 .
