DFM 215 - Filmmaking I


3 credit hours - This class is an introductory course on film, analyzing the stylistic and thematic tendencies of a wide range of representative cinema. We will examine techniques, theories, genres and the “language” of this art form. Emphasis will be on the relationship between cinematic techniques and thematic intentions, the form and function of the filmic space.

The course closely resembles the traditional low-budget/no budget film production model.  Students will form a production company and will work throughout the semester to develop a production company and produce a short film This class is designed to develop the skills and knowledge of digital film production, concentrating on the areas of directing, cinematography, compositional theory, and producing. Prerequisite(s): MC 210  grade of C or higher. Course Fee $ 50.00
