DFM 340 - Experimental Filmmaking I

3 credit hours - This course will function as a survey of experimental film and video since the late 1920’s and early 1960’s as well as an experimental laboratory in which students can explore the theory and aesthetic concerns associated with historical movements and trends within avant-garde film and video art. Through video projects and critiques as well as selective readings, screenings and discussions of relevant work this course will explore theoretical and aesthetic developments in experimental film and video. This course will build upon the technical foundation gained from the Video I course and will encourage personal exploration of the medium in relation to the material covered. Prerequisite(s): MC 210 .
