Political Science majors take the Major Field Achievement Test (MFAT) prior to graduation. Political Science majors are not required to have a minor.

It is recommended that students planning to continue into the Social Science Alt A program take GEOG 231 , SOC 101  or SOC 102 , and EC 231 .

Students majoring in political science must complete:

• POS 200 - American National Government
• POS 250 - State and Local Government
• POS 370 - Research Methods in Social Sciences
• POS 385 - Modern Political Thought
• POS 444 - Public Policy
• POS 455 - International Relations
• POS 475 - Constitutional Law
• POS 499 - The Science of Politics
• POS electives (12 credit hours)
