Social Science, B.A. & B.S.

Social science majors take a comprehensive content examination in the senior seminar. Social science majors are not required to have a minor.

Students majoring in social science must complete 54 hours in social science courses, including:

• HIST 211 - History of the United States
• HIST 212 - History of the United States
• non-U.S. history elective (3 credit hours)
• POS 200 - American National Government
• POS 455 - International Relations
• POS elective (3 credit hours)

• SOC 101 - Introductory Sociology

• or

• SOC 102 - Honors Introductory Sociology

• two SOC electives (6 credit hours)
• GEOG 231 - World Regional Geography
• GEOG elective (3 credit hours)
• EC 231 - Introduction to Macroeconomics

• Select one of the following courses:

• HIST 310 - Introduction to Historical Study
• POS 370 - Research Methods in Social Sciences
• SWK 355 - Research in Social Welfare

• Select one of the following courses:

• HIST 492 - History Capstone
• POS 499 - The Science of Politics
• SOC 499 - Sociology Capstone

• Choose 12 hours at the 300/400 level from one of the following areas: History, Political Science, or Sociology.
