The Nutrition and Wellness concentration is designed to prepare students to pursue a variety of careers related to nutrition and dietetics. The Coordinated Program (CP) in Dietetics is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). Admission to the CP in Dietetics program is competitive. Students who meet the requirements and who are admitted to the program must maintain the required academic standards in order to progress. To be considered for admission to the CP in Dietetics program, a student must have an overall GPA of at least 3.0 and no grade below a C in all courses and must earn a B or better in all pre-requisite courses for the Dietetics program. If transferring from another institution, students must complete EXNS 473 and EXNS 474 (Metabolism I and II) and EXNS 483 and EXNS 484 (Nutrition Care Process I and II) at the University of Montevallo. Students must retake EXNS 483 and EXNS 484 if more than a year has passed before admission to the Dietetics program. Dietetics students must successfully complete six Supervised Practice courses (internship) prior to graduation in order to take the Registered Dietitian (RD) examination. Students should confer with an academic adviser to prepare a plan of study for their selected concentration in Nutrition and Wellness.
