Exercise and Nutrition Science, Health Promotion, B.S.

The Health Promotion concentration is designed for students who wish to pursue a variety of areas related to public and community health, health education, corporate wellness, and other health-related professions. Health Promotion majors will study current and future trends in health promotion and must complete a professional internship in their related field. This course provides a common ground between medical and exercise professionals, creating a more collaborative approach to patient care. A framework for optimizing patients’ and clients’ functionality by keeping them physically active will be emphasized. This concentration will focus on why exercise is significant in the treatment and prevention of disease, support the pursuit of medical and exercise professionals in considering proper exercise prescription protocols, and provide evidence-informed guidance on devising individualized exercise programs. Students should confer with their academic adviser to prepare a plan of study for their selected concentration in Exercise and Nutrition Science.

In addition to the General Education Core and major requirements listed below, students should meet the following:

  • Complete BIO 105 or 107 and CHEM 101 or 121 to fulfill the General Education science requirement
  • Complete EC 231 or 232 and PSYC 201 towards the General Education Social Sciences requirement
