Program Admission Requirements:
TEP Admission
- 3.25 minimum GPA (Teaching Field, Professional Studies, and UM Overall)
- 158 minimum score requirement Art Content Knowledge (Praxis II test code: 5134)
- All prerequisite coursework must be completed with a minimum grade of “C”
- Fingerprinting and Background Clearance through Cogent Systems must be successfully completed prior to lab placements
- Teacher Education Program Interview
- Minimum Score Requirement = 22 points (out of 32 possible points)
- Must be successfully completed to gain admission to TEP
- Interviews are conducted during fall, spring, and summer semesters
TEP Retention
- Maintain minimum 3.25 GPA (Teaching Field, Professional Studies, and UM Overall)
- All coursework completed with a minimum grade of “C”. Students will be allowed one repeat to improve a course grade lower than a “C”.
- Satisfactory disposition ratings by education faculty with fewer than three incident reports
Progression to Internship
- Admissions to TEP
- Maintain minimum 3.25 GPA (Teaching Field, Professional Studies, and UM Overall)
- Completion of all prerequisite course work.
- Negative TB test within 12 months and fingerprint/background clearance.
- Satisfactory completion of all program expectations, including field experiences, key assessments, and disposition assessments
- Submitted Application for Internship by the posted deadline
Program Completion
- 3.25 graduating GPA with a final grade of “C” or better in all Professional Studies and Teaching Field courses
- Successful completion (final grade of C or better) of the following courses:
- EDI 590 Internship in P-12 Teaching
- EDI 599: Intern Certification Preparation
- Satisfactory intern evaluations
- Completed SPED 407/507 or equivalent, if not previously completed
- edTPA Performance Portfolio Tasks (1, 2 and 3)

Curriculum Outline (36 hours)
Teaching Field
Students must take 12 total graduate (500 level) hours in their teaching field, including ART 551 . Undergraduate courses with equivalent content cannot be repeated for graduate credit.
