Instructional Technology, Ed.S.

The Educational Specialist Program in Instructional Technology is for those who have earned a master’s degree or higher in a related field.  UM’s innovative IT program is open to professionals in P-16 educational environments as well as those in business training fields that have an aptitude for technology use and integration to support leadership and mentoring within their organization.

Candidates are eligible for dual enrollment in the Instructional Leadership, Reduced-Hour Option for Certification. Candidates would count 6 hours of their coursework toward both programs. Admission requirements for both programs must be met.

Program Admission Requirements:

  • 3.0 graduating GPA in a master’s degree program from a regionally accredited college or university
  • An official transcript from each institution of higher education attended
  • Electronic portfolio demonstrating technical proficiency and expertise
  • Completion of a minimum of one-year full-time professional experience in a P-12, higher education, or similar setting and proof of current employment in the related professional field; or, have a minimum of at least three years of full-time professional educational training/experience in a P-12, higher education, or similar setting
  • EXP form documenting one-year full-time professional experience in a P-12, higher education, or similar setting and proof of current employment in the related professional field or at least three years of full-time educational training/experience in a P-12, higher education, or similar setting

Retention and Completion Requirements for the IT/Ed.S.

  • Maintain a minimum 3.25 program GPA and a minimum grade of “C” on all coursework
  • Successful portfolio review
