Provisional Certificate in Teaching Field

The Provisional Certificate in a Teaching Field at the University of Montevallo is for those who have earned a bachelor’s degree or higher and wish to be certified to teach in Alabama. The University’s potential PCTF areas are as follows: biology, business, English/language arts, family and consumer science (FCS), general science, history, mathematics, social science or Spanish. A completed PCTF leads to Class B teacher certification in the chosen teaching field.

All coursework must be completed with the Alabama State Department approved grade to be considered for the PCTF application (please see the ALSDE PCTF application for specific guidance).

• Bachelor’s degree (minimum 2.75 GPA) or graduate degree (minimum 3.0 GPA) from a regionally accredited college/ university
