Mass Communication, Multimedia Journalism, B.A.


Mass Communication, Multimedia Journalism, B.A. or B.S.


The Mass Communication program prepares students for a wide variety of media-related careers, including video production and editing; multimedia journalism; podcasting; television and film production; digital marketing and advertising; social media management; live sports production; and so much more. Students gain hands-on experience in class and through experiential learning opportunities to develop their critical thinking, creative and storytelling skills. Students can concentrate in Broadcast Production or Multimedia Journalism. They can also choose a dual concentration path, taking both Broadcast Production and Multimedia Journalism courses. In addition to the requirements listed below, students must meet all general graduation requirements as listed in the Undergraduate Academic Policies  section in this Bulletin. A minimum of 120 semester hours is required for completion.

General Education and General Electives


Students must also complete the General Education Core requirements to include any specific courses listed below. Students must also complete sufficient general electives to reach 120 or more total semester hours.

Bachelor of Arts Requirements


Students pursuing the Bachelor of Art degree must successfully complete the second-year sequence of a world language. Alternative options, including a placement exam, are listed in the Bachelor of Arts requirements in the Undergraduate Academic Policies  section of this Bulletin.
