The Family and Consumer Sciences Secondary Education Concentration is designed for students who wish to teach Family and Consumer Sciences in middle and high schools, and work in the Cooperative Extension Service or related positions. In addition to the major requirements below, FCS majors with the Secondary Education concentration must complete the general education history sequence (HIST 102 and 102 ), earn a grade of ‘C’ or higher is all courses applied toward program requirements, and earn a 2.75 or higher graduation GPA. Students must meet all general graduation requirements as listed in the Undergraduate Academic Policies section in this Bulletin. A minimum of 120-125 semester hours is required for completion. General Education and General Electives
Students must also complete the General Education Core requirements to include any specific courses listed below. Students must also complete sufficient general electives to reach 125 or more total semester hours. Bachelor of Arts Requirements
Students pursuing the Bachelor of Art degree must successfully complete either the second-year sequence of a ASL, FRN, GER or SPN or the first year course sequence in two different languages. Alternative options, including a placement exam, are listed in the Bachelor of Arts requirements in the Undergraduate Academic Policies section of this Bulletin. |
