MATH 170 - Calculus I


4 credit hours - General Education - The study of the limit of a function; the derivative of algebraic, trigonometric, exponential, and logarithmic functions; the definite integral and its basic applications to area problems. Applications of the derivative are covered in detail, including approximations of error using differentials, maximum and minimum problems, and curve sketching using calculus. Prerequisite(s): MATH 149  with grade of C or higher OR MATH 150  with grade of C or higher OR OR ACT Mathematics subscore of 25 or higher OR SAT Mathematics subscore of 555or higher OR grade of B or higher in Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, or Calculus on high school transcript OR by departmental placement exam.
