DATA 350 - Database II


3 credit hours - Database II expands on the foundational concepts introduced in Database I by exploring advanced topics in database technologies and their application in modern data environments. The course introduces students to NoSQL databases, including popular systems like MongoDB Atlas and Elasticsearch, and covers the use of cloud platforms for database management and deployment. Students will gain hands-on experience with BigQuery, an essential tool for large-scale data analytics, and delve into graph databases for handling complex relationships in data.

In addition, the course explores the role of XML in modern data systems. It introduces students to emerging trends like Generative AI in database management, demonstrating how AI technologies can enhance data processing, search optimization, and automated querying. The course emphasizes the practical aspects of database design and implementation using these advanced tools, providing students with the skills to work with scalable, flexible, and high-performance databases in cloud and on-premises environments. Prerequisite(s): DATA 161  or DATA 171 DATA 245 , DATA 246  and DATA 348 .
