HIST 101 (or 103 ) and HIST 102 (or 104 ) are prerequisites for all upper-level history courses, and HIST 211 and/or HIST 212 are prerequisites for many U.S. history electives. History majors will take a comprehensive content examination in the History Capstone (HIST 492 ). History majors are not required to have a minor. It is recommended that students planning to continue into the Alternate Masters of Education in Secondary Education (6-12) with certification in Social Science take GEOG 231 , POS 200 or POS 250 , SOC 101 (or 102 ), and EC 231 . In addition to the requirements listed below, students must meet all general graduation requirements as listed in the Academic Programs and Policies section in this bulletin. A minimum of 120 semester hours is required for completion.
Students majoring in history must take 39 hours of history courses, including the following:
General Education and General Electives
Students must also complete the General Education Core requirements to include any specific courses listed below. Students must also complete sufficient general electives to reach 120 or more total semester hours.
Bachelor of Science Requirements
Student pursuing a Bachelor of Science must complete an additional seven semester hours of mathematics and/or science course work beyond the general education requirement.
