Family and Consumer Sciences, Human Development and Family Studies, B.A. & B.S.


The Human Development and Family Studies Concentration is designed for students who wish to pursue careers in human resources, child and family services, and preschool teaching and administration. The National Council on Family Relations has approved the program to award Family Life Educator certification (CFLE). Human Development and Family Studies majors are able to earn CFLE certification without having to pass the CFLE examination. Human Development and Family Life Studies majors are required to complete a professional internship. In addition to the requirements listed below, students must meet all general graduation requirements as listed in the Academic Policies and Information  section in this bulletin. A minimum of 120 semester hours is required for completion.

General Education and General Electives


Students must also complete the General Education Core requirements to include any specific courses listed below. Students must also complete sufficient general electives to reach 120 or more total semester hours.

Bachelor of Art Requirements


Students pursuing the Bachelor of Art degree must successfully complete the second-year sequence of a foreign language.
