The pre-professional program leads to the B.S. degree.

Each student in the Department must earn a grade of C or better in all departmental courses. This policy applies to all CSD courses. If a grade below C is received in a required CSD course, the course must be repeated. Prerequisite courses must be passed with a C or better before subsequent courses may be taken. (For example, CSD majors must make a C or better in CSD 411 Introduction to Audiology  before they can take CSD 471 Aural Rehabilitation . Other prerequisite courses are noted in the course listings.) In fulfillment of the science requirement, SLP majors are required to take Biology and either Chemistry or Physics.

Admission to the Junior Class

Admission to the junior class is required for a student to continue toward a B.S. degree in CSD. Following are the requirements for admission to the junior class:

  • complete the required 60 hours for junior status;
  • attain an overall GPA of 2.75 or better on all work attempted;
  • complete specified courses in Speech-Language Pathology (CSD 101 , 253 , and 291 ) with a grade of C or better in each course; and
  • once admitted, maintain an overall GPA of 2.75 or better and maintain appropriate social and behavioral attributes.

Note: CSD courses are only available to students who are declared CSD majors. However, CSD 101  is available to students who may be considering a major in Speech-Language Pathology and are seeking more information about the profession. CSD 385  and CSD 401  are also available to students outside the major.
