ED 411 - Advanced Teaching of Reading 3 credit hours This course provides advanced analysis and application of structured literacy instruction and developmentally-appropriate assessment techniques that can be used in K-6 classrooms. Through targeted experiences in the university and elementary classroom settings, candidates will expand their knowledge and ability to apply multisensory teaching strategies to promote phonological and phonemic awareness, phonics and word recognition, automatic and fluent reading of text with a focus on comprehension, and professional dispositions and practices. Admission to the Teacher Education Program required. Prerequisite(s): ED 410 , ED 447 , ED 465 , EDF 461 , and SPED 415 . Co-requisite(s): ED 444 , ED 445 , ED 446 , ED 448 .
