Program Admission Requirements:

A completed application available at www.montevallo.edu/admissions-aid/applying/
One official transcript from each institution of higher education attended
2.75 undergraduate graduating GPA or 3.0 Master’s degree graduating GPA from a regionally accredited college or university
Must hold a valid Alabama Class B certificate in the same teaching field in which Class A certification is sought

Retention and Completion Requirements

Maintain a 3.25 program GPA
Completed all required course work with a grade of “C” or higher
Completed SPED 407/507 or equivalent, if not previously completed

ED 503 - Public and Community Resources
ED 504 - Innovative Instructional Design
ED 506 - Reaching Every Learner
EDF 526 - Assessment and Data Analysis for Instructional Improvement
EDF 540 - Applied Educational Research
Technology (3 credit hours) Select one of the following technology courses:
ED 529 - Survey of Instructional Technology for Engaged Learning
ED 570 - Selected Topics in Technology (or an equivalent approved technology course)
SPED 507 - Exceptional Learners in the P-12 and Secondary Programs
Note: SPED 507 is required if not previously completed

Teaching Field (12 credit hours)

Students must take 12 total graduate (500 level) hours in their teaching field. Undergraduate courses with equivalent content cannot be repeated for graduate credit. Undergraduate courses with equivalent content cannot be repeated for graduate credit.
