Title IX Compliance
Title IX states that “no person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.”
Title IX covers all aspects of education programs and the treatment of students, including, but not limited to, admissions, athletics, employment and campus life, at all levels of education. The Director of Human Resources and Risk Management serves as the University’s primary Title IX and Equal Opportunity Compliance Officer and is responsible for coordinating the administrative investigation of all Title IX reports and is available to discuss options, explain University policies and procedures, and provide education on relevant issues.
Sexual harassment is a form of sex discrimination and is prohibited by Title IX. Sex discrimination or sexual harassment will not be tolerated at the University of Montevallo. The University will take steps to prevent recurrence of any harassment and to correct its discriminatory effects on the complainant and others as appropriate. The Registrar’s Office holds primary responsibility for the current and archived editions of the University’s catalog, the Bulletin, and for providing access to the catalogs. The Registrar’s Office maintains the University’s online catalog, both current and archived editions, dating back to the 2015-2016 academic year. In addition, the Registrar’s Office also maintains a collection of print catalogs dating back to the 1906/1907 academic year. Copies of the catalog materials that are not available in digital format via the University website may be requested by telephone and email, as well as by visiting the Registrar’s Office. Requested copies may be faxed, emailed, or mailed.
Secondary to the catalog collection maintained by the Registrar’s Office is the collection maintained by the Anna Crawford Milner Archives and Special Collections, housed in Carmichael Library. The Archives include catalogs dating from the University’s founding in 1896 to the present, in digital and print form. The catalogs from 1896 through the 1969-1970 academic year are available in digital form via the archives on the University’s website. Digitization of the catalogs for archival purposes was made possible by a grant that allowed the process to be completed only up to the 1969-1970 catalog. The complete set of print catalogs (1896-present) are housed by the library in a climate-controlled room in the archives and can be accessed by visiting Carmichael Library.
