MATH 170 - Calculus I 4 credit hours - The study of the limit of a function; the derivative of algebraic, trigonometric, exponential, and logarithmic functions; the definite integral and its basic applications to area problems. Applications of the derivative are covered in detail, including approximations of error using differentials, maximum and minimum problems, and curve sketching using calculus. Prerequisite(s): MATH 149 grade of “C” or higher or 150 grade of “C” or higher, or Mathematics ACT minimum subscore of 25, or Mathematics SAT minimum subscore of 555.
