Bloch Hall, Second Floor

Mission

The Department of Art provides students with hands-on intellectually informed instruction in visual arts media within a liberal arts university. We create opportunities for the community that nurture understanding of the fine arts, promote inclusion, and value the perspectives of all. Through supportive and rigorous training, we challenge our students to bring their creative visions to life.

Graduate Offerings

No graduate degree is offered in the department. However, students pursuing a P-12 Education, Art, Alternative, M.Ed.  or P-12 Education, Art, Professional Educators, M.Ed.  may take department courses to fulfill teaching field requirements. Students who have taken courses as an undergraduate may not receive graduate credit for those courses, with the exception of the internships, directed reading, and special topics. Most courses will involve the graduate student in the mastery of skills and techniques available on the undergraduate level. In addition to the knowledge and skills required of every art student involved in the course, all graduate students shall be responsible for a graduate component. For information, see the appropriate section under the Department of Teaching, Leadership and Technology .

The Department of Art reserves the right to reproduce examples of student artwork in its web page, and any other promotional materials that the department produces or approves.
