Elementary Education, B.A. or B.S.
Completion of a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education meets requirements for an Alabama Class B certificate. Study for a B.A. instead of a B.S. degree requires a conference with an advisor.
A traditional minor is not required in Elementary Education.
In addition to the requirements listed below, students must meet all general graduation requirements as listed in the Undergraduate Academic Policies section in this Bulletin. A minimum of 122 semester hours is required for completion.
- A minimum of 12 semester hours in each of the following areas: English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Sciences;
- Complete MUS 255 as part of the General Education Core;
- All courses applied toward the program graded with a ‘C’ or higher;
- 2.75 or higher institutional GPA, and in all teaching field and professional areas.

*These courses assist to fulfill the requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree.
General Education and General Electives
Students must also complete the General Education Core requirements to include any specific courses listed below. Students must also complete sufficient general electives to reach 122 or more total semester hours.

Bachelor of Arts Requirements
Students pursuing the Bachelor of Art degree must successfully complete the second-year sequence of a world language.
