Study for a certificate in Elementary Education allows for a Collaborative K-6 endorsement with the completion of additional courses. The endorsement certifies that the recipient is qualified to teach in all areas of special education except for the areas of sensory impairments and gifted. Additional requirements for the endorsement include SPED 416 , 440 , and 462 , along with an internship in an appropriate collaborative setting.
In addition to the General Education Core requirements and the major requirements listed below, students are required to meet the following requirements:
- A minimum of 12 semester hours in each of the following areas: English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Sciences;
- Complete MUS 255 as part of the General Education Core;
- All courses applied toward the program graded with a ‘C’ or higher;
- 2.75 or higher institutional GPA, and in all teaching field and professional areas.

*These courses assist to fulfill the requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree.
General Education and General Electives
Students must also complete the General Education Core requirements to include any specific courses listed below. Students must also complete sufficient general electives to reach 122 or more total semester hours.

Bachelor of Arts Requirements
Students pursuing the Bachelor of Art degree must successfully complete the second-year sequence of a world language.
