Environmental Studies, B.A. or B.S.
Environmental Studies at the University of Montevallo is an interdisciplinary academic program that incorporates ideas from the social and natural sciences, arts and humanities, and business to empower students to address the grand environmental challenges of our time. ES provides students with the experience, knowledge, and skills they need to become environmental and sustainability advocates and professionals. A minor in Environmental Studies is also offered. In addition to the requirements listed below, students must meet all general graduation requirements as listed in the Undergraduate Academic Policies section in this Bulletin. A minimum of 120 semester hours is required for completion.

Major Requirements
Students majoring in Environmental Science must complete the following:
Major Electives
Choose 5 courses from below. Courses must come from at least 3 areas:
1. Environmental Leadership & Management (includes Business/other courses listed to): - ES 321 - Topics in Environmental Leadership & Management
- ES 421 - Topics in Environmental Leadership & Management
2. Environmental Arts & Humanities (includes ART, HIST, ENG, PHIL, other courses listed to): - ES 322 - Topics in Environmental Arts & Humanities
- ES 422 - Topics in Environmental Arts & Humanities
3. Environmental Policy & Advocacy (includes POS, SOC, PJS, COMS, other courses listed to): - ES 323 - Topics in Environmental Policy & Advocacy
- ES 423 - Topics in Environmental Policy & Advocacy
4. Environmental Science (includes approved BIO, CHEM, MSCI courses): - ESCI 324 - Topics in Environmental Science
- ESCI 424 - Topics in Environmental Science
General Education and General Electives
Students must also complete the General Education Core requirements to include any specific courses listed below. Students must also complete sufficient general electives to reach 120 or more total semester hours.
Bachelor of Science Requirements
Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science must complete an additional seven (7) semester hours of mathematics and/or natural science course work beyond the general education requirement.
