Exercise and Nutrition Science, Strength and Conditioning, B.S.

The Strength and Conditioning concentration is designed to prepare students to pursue a variety of careers related to the strength and conditioning field, including NCAA strength and conditioning specialists, fitness industry professionals, and tactical strength and conditioning specialists. Courses in this concentration will provide students with an in-depth look at the latest strength training and conditioning techniques endorsed by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Students will include studies of current research related to strength and conditioning, as well as focus on scientific principles, concepts, and theories related to strength training and conditioning. Emphasis will be placed on proper strength training techniques for a variety of exercises and equipment. Upon completion of this concentration, students will learn to develop safe, effective, and appropriate strength training and conditioning programs for clients in the world of practice. Students who complete this concentration will be prepared to apply and complete the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification examination. Students should confer with an academic advisor to prepare a plan of study for their selected concentration in Strength and Conditioning.

In addition to the requirements listed below, students must meet all general graduation requirements as listed in the Undergraduate Academic Policies  section in this Bulletin. A minimum of 120 semester hours is required for completion.

General Education and General Electives


Students must also complete the General Education Core requirements to include any specific courses listed below. Students must also complete sufficient general electives to reach 120 or more total semester hours.
