Family and Consumer Sciences, General, B.A. or B.S.
Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) is designed for students who wish to pursue a variety of areas related to education and training; human/child development and family relations; textile, apparel, and retailing; foods and nutrition; culinary arts, hospitality, and tourism; health and wellness; and resource management. Sustainable practices, consumerism, and leadership principles are woven throughout the content areas. Through research, experimental education, and technology, our professionals help people develop the essential knowledge and skills to be work and career ready, lead better lives, build strong families, and make meaningful contributions to our communities. FCS majors will complete a professional internship in their related field.
In addition to the requirements listed below, students must meet all general graduation requirements as listed in the Undergraduate Academic Policies section in this Bulletin.
Major Requirements (30 credit hours)
General Education and General Electives
Students must also complete the General Education Core requirements to include any specific courses listed below. Students must also complete sufficient general electives to reach 120 or more total semester hours.
Bachelor of Arts Requirements
Students pursuing the Bachelor of Art degree must successfully complete the second-year sequence of a world language.
